The Buddhist Cultural Center is a charity project to support the local Buddhist society
of Kulai by providing spaces for cultural, meditational and recreational facilities and
activities related to Buddhism. The result is a building using progressive and
innovative design and making a bold statement to bring fresh energy into the
Buddhist community.

The design philosophy of the cultural center is influenced heavily by traditional
Chinese temple style and sustainable building design principles. A seemingly floating
roof is incorporated on top of the main building block welcoming patrons into the
complex, together with the louvers pattern and light colour tone, they represent
modernized elements of a traditional temple. Generous amount of landscape is
proposed throughout the cultural center, hinting at the meditative relationship
between human and nature and suggesting a spiritual escape and Zen. Green roof
provide shading from the sun as well as rejuvenate the interior spaces, while lotus
ponds spread across the cultural center facilitates cross ventilation throughout the
complex.
